Golf Rules and Information
Players should be familiar with the “Rules of Golf" which are available for review in the Clubhouse.
Membership tags must be visible on all golf bags. Tags are available in the Clubhouse and may be replaced periodically.
Guests must be registered and have guest tags on their bags.
Players aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
The Abenakee Club is a walking course. Golf carts may be used ONLY by those members over 80 years of age or with documented health problems. By law, a driver’s license is required to operate a golf cart and unlicensed drivers may not operate golf carts.
Golf cart use on the course applies only to those playing golf unless authorized by the staff or Golf Committee. If you are not playing golf, please don’t be on the course in a golf cart.
Beginners, or adults playing with children are requested to play during off-hours, especially on weekends.
When looking for lost golf balls, please be considerate of those waiting to play behind you.
Slower players should encourage faster players to play through. Faster players should never play through without asking or being invited to do so.
Be aware of other players and observe proper golf etiquette. GOLFERS STARTING ON THE FIRST HOLE HAVE PRIORITY OVER THOSE STARTING ON ANOTHER HOLE.
Respect the course: replace divots, smooth the sand after playing a bunker shot, and repair ball marks on the greens.
Bicycle riding is not permitted on the golf course except on the south edge of Fairways #8 and #9 adjacent to the houses.
The Dress Code for Golf is:
Short or long sleeve shirts with a collar are acceptable attire for men.
Similar shirts and blouses are acceptable for women.
Bermuda length shorts and/or trousers are acceptable for men and women. Skirts for women are also acceptable.
Only soft spikes are permitted on the golf course.
This dress code also applies to children.
The Abenakee Club participates in the USGA GHIN handicapping system. Active golfers are encouraged to enroll in the program and post their scores regularly. Information is available in the Clubhouse.
Pets are not permitted when playing golf. If walking your pet on the golf course, please stay off tees and greens, and out of bunkers. Disposing of pet waste is expected.
In the interest of safety, please do not walk on the course, with or without a pet, during heavy playing times. Stay on the edges of the course when the course is in use. This is particularly important from July 1 through Labor Day when the golf course is the most active.
